Alanna and Edgar's marriage ceremony was held at St. Ignatius (near Boston College). It is a tremendous and beautiful structure--and where they had their first date.

Alanna + Edgar's wedding, part 1

Alanna and Edgar discovered me through mutual friends. We met last year while they were living in DC and I visited for some work; we became fast friends. Their recent wedding in Boston was a great day for both of them, their families, and their friends. Here are a few from Alanna's preparations at a friend's house.

Cailin

Cailin and I have known each other for a couple years, and I was happy to oblige when she needed some new headshots for work. We had some extra time, so we made some more informal portraits, too.

A recent wedding reception was held at Scullers--one of my favorite places in Boston. I've heard some great performances there (most notably the late Joe Williams, where we had front row seats--right behind his pianist Norman Simmons). This was my first opportunity to photograph there, so while dinner was being served, I spent some time observing and photographing DJ Cheeks and his assistant. I'm very pleased with the results. some tennis: Dana Ball Tennis Tournament 2009

My brother-in-law, Josh, is an active tennis player, but I rarely (ever?) have the opportunity to see him play. Last weekend, he had advanced in the Dana Ball "Love" Tennis Tournament, which supports cancer research, so we took the kids to watch him play. I don't photograph sports very often, but neither player minded, and the next court was open. Some of my favorites (Josh is wearing the Red Sox hat):

Emily

I've photographed Emily on stage a few times, so we were both excited to have a studio session. Just as expected, it was comfortable and collaborative. I even managed to persuade she and her boyfriend Seath (also an actor) to have a quick portrait together outside (the one below via the Lensbaby).
